The first Holy Cross Faculty Colloquium was held Tuesday, April 8th, in the amphitheater of Maliotis Cultural Center. This colloquium represents the revival of an earlier tradition that President Demetrios Katos and Dean Eugen J. Pentiuc initiated back in 2005 when both were teaching in the Religious Studies Program at Hellenic College. This year’s colloquium Walking with Jesus as Enoch Walked with God brought together six Holy Cross faculty members who offered their short presentations (see enclosed program) after which a lively Q and A session followed. Students attending their monthly synaxis (coinciding with the faculty colloquium) engaged in a dynamic conversation with the faculty on the main theme of how one can we improve their personal relationship with Christ during Great Lend and beyond. How can we respond timely and adequately to God’s invitation? God is now “walking about” as he was in the Garden of Eden, “walking about,” with no destination and no other goal than inciting us to come closer to him, our Creator and provider. Fr. Eugen J. Pentiuc, Dean of Holy Cross, noted: “I was so glad to see our faculty, most of us working here for 20 + years, sitting at the same table and sharing with our beloved students our theological food in an informal way, outside the confines of a classroom setting. This tradition should continue for the benefit of both, faculty and student body!” The event was organized by the Dean’s Office of Holy Cross and the Office of Student Life, sponsored by The Scriptorium Initiative at Holy Cross, and hosted by the Maliotis Cultural Center.
